The students worked on an engineering challenge today...they designed and built a device that would melt an ice cube faster. The students competed against each other in teams. They were given an opportunity to choose from a variety of items ranging in price and were allocated a budget of $100 per team.
After the students built their devices and times their melting of the cubes, they each determined how many grams per second their cubes melted (Total Mass of Ice Cube / Total Melting Time in Seconds = grams/second melted).
