Chemistry Review
The students worked on a chemistry review activity today.
Chemistry Review Students are working on The Heat is On Assignment
Click the following link for the website: The Heat Is On The students went into the lab today and learned about polymers through a hands on activity where they created "Gloop". We mixed together two substances and food coloring to create a polymer with slime like characteristics.
If you were absent: You will need to come by my classroom and use my Gloop to answer the questions on the assignment. You will also need to get the assignment from me! The students reviewed their notes on Chemical/Physical Properties and Changes. Shortly after they took their 8.1.2 Quiz finishing the section. We entered the grades and glued our quizzes into our notebooks. The students then worked on any missing assignments, early finishers, etc.
Students, 1. Sign into Google Classroom 2. Find the assignment for today 3. Read the Story Below... 4. NOW...Read the instructions for the assignment. 5. Complete the assignment and Turn it In
The students worked on practicing their identification of Chemical/Physical Property and Changes. They used their notes from this week to help them.
Chemical/Physical Practice We were in the lab today watching a demonstration on clues about physical and chemical changes. We learned that physical changes do not change the chemical nature of the substance, like ripping a piece of paper or popping a balloon. Chemical changes do cause the substance to become a new or different substance, like rusting and burning. If you were absent you will need to get the notes from me when you get back. We put the notes from the demonstration in our science notebooks.
The students watched a video introducing them to Chemical and Physical Changes that can happen to substances. We have already identified how to look for the substances properties NOW we are looking at how they change and interact. Chemical/Physical Changes Video Guide We were in the lab today looking at different substances, listing physical properties and testing for chemical properties. We had some solids and liquids that started on fire!
If you were absent come see Mrs. Sandoval! The students took notes today and the differences between chemical and physical properties.
