Potential vs Kinetic Bookwork 3-1
The students worked on practicing their knowledge of potential and kinetic energy. They used the book to help them through the questions. See the assignment below and the bookwork pages for those of you who are absent. (Use pages 42 and 43)
Potential vs Kinetic Bookwork 3-1 The students took notes today on Potential energy vs Kinetic energy. Below is the power point and the notes.
Potential vs Kinetic Energy Today we will use a web quest game to practice our knowledge of Newton's 3 Laws.
You need to complete the worksheet on google classroom as you work through the lab! Follow these instructions: 1. Open Google Classroom - Open the assignment "3 Puck Chuck" 2. Complete worksheet as you go through the web quest 2. Click on web quest link: 3 Puck Chuck Instructions for the game: Click "Play Here" Click "How to Play" Read through instructions on the left side bar then... Click "Go to step 2" Repeat reading instructions on each page for steps 2,3 and 4 NOW, You should be finished with the assignment & can PLAY! To Play the Game: Click "Play" Click "1 Player Game" Click "Play" We took notes today on Newtons Laws followed by a short demonstration.
Below is the power point and notes. Newtons Laws Power Point The students finalized their research for their Science Education Fair Topics today. We took all the information they gathered over the last computer days and sorted it into "bite size" chunks of information the students can use to write their research papers in their CORE classes.
Every student needs to complete the assignment in Google Classroom so they are ready to begin the writing process. DO NOT TURN IN THIS ASSIGNMENT!!
We began our new unit on physics and opened it with a video on the greatest physics discoveries of all time!
Students, Follow the directions below to take your exam...
1. Click on Utips 2. Username: This is you SSID Number 3. Password: Last name with FIRST letter capitalized 4. Click "Physical Science Final Exam" 5. Take the test * When you are finished you can read quietly, do homework or play games on the computer QUIETLY!! * The students went through a fill in the blank notes along with a power point to complete a set of notes. These notes are to be studied tonight to prepare the students for the test tomorrow.
Physical Science Final Exam is worth 300 points!! Final Exam Review Power Point Note: There is a piece of information missing from the notes, please see the image below. The students completed Day Two of the melting ice challenge today. This was an opportunity for them to re-engineer their devices. Below are the results from the challenge Day One and Day Two. The winning groups are circled.
The students worked on an engineering challenge today...they designed and built a device that would melt an ice cube faster. The students competed against each other in teams. They were given an opportunity to choose from a variety of items ranging in price and were allocated a budget of $100 per team.
After the students built their devices and times their melting of the cubes, they each determined how many grams per second their cubes melted (Total Mass of Ice Cube / Total Melting Time in Seconds = grams/second melted). Melting Ice Challenge Below are some pictures of the devices created: |
